Histologic Changes
Hemangioma-like Area Some spaces are filled with blood, resembling a hemangioma. However, the cells lining the spaces are epithelial rather than endothelial cells.
Solid Area Here, note the collections of foamy macrophages (large cells) among the tumor cells. Mitoses were very infrequent.
Foam Cells and Hemosiderin Some of the spaces contained foamy macrophages and hemosiderin-filled macrophages (center) rather than blood. Hemosiderin-filled macrophages are also scattered throughout the surrounding tumor.
