Gross Features
The subcarinal mass, 4.5 x 3.5 x 3 cm, contained multiple cysts with smooth, thin, white walls and clear, serous or thick, yellow fluid. The wedge of lung contained a firm, white nodule, 1.7 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm. Section showed a biloculated cyst with serous fluid.

The photo shows the wall of a cyst in the lymph node. It is lined by epithelium that is surrounded by a fibrous wall. No other structures were identified. What type of epithelium is present? Answer | ||||||
Answer: The epithelium has goblet cells and simple, columnar absorptive cells typical of that in the small intestine. This type of differentiation is common in cystic metastases from germ cell tumors.
