Histologic Changes

Another pattern seen in small areas of the tumor consists of mesenchyme, papillae, and glands that resemble embryonic structures.

Note the dark and light mesenchyme that is covered by undifferentiated epithelium forming glands and papillae. M = mesenchyme, P = papilla, G = gland

At higher magnification, the epithelial cells (right) have vesicular nuclei with prominent nucleoli. The underlying stroma is focally condensed and contains two glands (center and left).
