Axial CT shows a completely calcified nodule, consistent with a granuloma.

Figure 2. Hamartoma--Chondroid Calcification

Coned frontal chest radiograph shows a left upper lobe nodule with chondroid (popcorn) calcification, characteristic of hamartomas.

 

Figure 3. Calcified Bronchogenic Carcinoma

Axial CT shows an irregularly-shaped nodule with eccentric calcification in the right lower lobe. Note that the mass is comprised of a substantial noncalcified component.
