Gross features: The superior segment of the lower lobe had a 5 x 3 x 2.5 cm, well-circumscribed, cavitary lesion with grey fluid that smelled like an epidermal inclusion cyst. The wall was 0.6 cm in greatest thickness and had inner lobulations. The lesion was related to the segmental bronchus but did not involve the pleura.
