This section shows the positive red reaction of the deposit with the PAS-D stain for carbohydrates. Light chain deposits, like amyloid, have a predilection for the vascular wall, as shown here. Wall structures have been destroyed, and there is some intimal thickening with a lymphoid infiltrate. | ||||||

Like amyloid deposits, non-amyloid light chain deposits may also show bony metaplasia. Note the fatty marrow (M), the bone (B), and the light chain deposits (LCD). | ||||||
